What is your favorite EX- JW You Tube site and why???

the mrs (third gen) and i have been on this site for a number of years now.

we appreciate simon's efforts to keep this site active and available.

i find a number of pimo jw friends enjoy youtube for some reason.

Lloyd Evans/ John Cedars is a fantastic channel, especially for those who have just started waking up

this site was and remains instrumental in assisting people that want to leave the jw's.. there has been political discussion here for some time now, a good couple of years and it makes me feel a little uneasy.

i just opened up the site for the first time in some weeks, of the 10 posts being discussed, 4 were by the same poster, about politics, promoting their right wing beliefs.. this has been the trend for some time now, the same name behind a peppering of posts stirring the right v left of politics.. i remain forever grateful to the site and it's founders simon & angharad, i appreciate that simon shares some of these these political beliefs.

it would be a shame to see the site evolve from a place for jw freedom of thought and escape, to political squabbling, that the world is frankly tired of right now.. just to clarify, politics is my hobby, whilst my friends read the football scores, i'm reading polling data.

Absolutely agree, the older discussions on this website are easily the most valuable and informative intellectual discussions about jw beliefs anywhere on the internet, the trouble is that those leaving jw may miss out on the invaluable info because the newer posts are off subject, especially when on politics which may well be a trigger, the value of this site as an aid for properly waking up is huge and that should be the main topic for conversation

New Light on Sheep and Goats?

lloyd evans has just tweeted a video he will be releasing soon on the "change" to the meaning of the sheep and goats and when that is to occur.. i've missed any discussion on that on here or anywhere?

it seems it was part of the 2020 annual meeting the gb had?.

any info on this?.

Lloyd’s videos are primarily aimed at those that are leaving or newly left, not to help those who have been out for years, the devil is in the detail, he does a fantastic job in this regard

Is it me or is John Cedars channel becoming a self important circle fest

i still like the commentary on the jw.org monthly’s, i can skip through some parts.

but it seems like he is pushing too hard to put out videos and the quality is getting very low on the content..

I understand it’s easy to criticise what he did with the crisis of conscience but for those of us waking up at that time it is probably the single most important book to read to help with that process, it wasn’t available, easy to say what he did was wrong but I for one thank him for doing it and I’m sure I’m not the only one, it is a matter of timing on when you woke up

I think I feel sorry for those criticising him, he has helped hundreds if not thousands of people wake up, Whilst going through the most traumatising period of their life he has been a voice of reason with all but Un-faulting accuracy, You don’t have to like him,you don’t have to like his methods, you don’t have to watch him, but the lives of many many people would be worse off if he hadn’t produced the series of videos that he has produced,
Those of you who are fully awake and have been for many years generally seem to be the ones that don’t like him but a lot of his videos aren’t really for you guys,
When i read through this thread and look at the faults that he has then compare them to the good he has done I would be embarrassed to point out any faults
Myself I have pretty much moved on from watching his videos, to watch a two hour YouTube commentary on JW is more than I would want to watch now however a few years ago I simply couldn’t get enough,
Personally I would only ever want to thank the activists that have put in huge amount of time and effort, including Simon on this forum, XJ W analyser, Barbara Anderson, fifth , Kim and Mikey, XJ W critical thinker, And the many others of course including John Cedars

I was in the process of waking up when I was offered to become a ministerial servant, I accepted as it seemed too difficult to turn down. Really brought it home to me that it was nonsense because there was no way I should have been made a ministerial servant with the thoughts I was having at the time

A discovery concerning 1975 as I am going through old Watchtower literature

i think everyone has heard about the video at the convention a few years back where an older ‘brother’ relates that “some were selling their homes” pre 1975, and it makes it look like the rank and file are stupid.

it shifts the blame to the r&f.

no mention of the km that advocated it.. and you have all seen the km that said it, and that it was the may 1974 km.. however, it was not.
